[ILUG] UPS troubles..

[ILUG] UPS troubles..

I have a Compaq Proliant 3000 which I am running RH6 on with
no problems. Thing is, now I'm trying to get the Compaq T1500
UPS configured and up and going. This is supposed to be a
"smart" UPS, but right now I'd settle for "dumb" - if I can at least
get my UPS to take the machine down cleanly when the power
gives out I'd be a happy man.

I've read the UPS howto and tried to configure smupsd (but this is
for APC UPS's) and then moved onto genpowerd, which is supposed to
be a more generic UPS monitoring daemon - but when I start it off, it
decides
straight away to shut the machine down (I guess I've got my pins mixed
up).

Anyway, my question are these:
SWITCH:
CASE Has anyone got the same HW config that I have above and managed
to get the UPS working? What SW did you use?
CASE Does anyone know anything about Compaq UPSs? In particular the
the Compaq T1500? What about the cable used? Know what the
pin
		arrangement is?
CASE Any better suggestions for getting my UPS going? Right now
it's an
		expensive footrest...

Cheers,

Pete
