Well another one of the feelings I got when looking at it a while ago was
that it's a *big* software project, with lots of wierd ways of doing
things internally -- so it's not trivial to get down and dirty with the
code without accidentally breaking stuff.
Eh, a bit like the Linux kernel now that I think of it ;)
