Waaaay Off topic here (I suggest that you use the [OT] convention in the
subject line - I unwilling changed the subject so sorry all you people like
me who sort by tread)
Anyway ...
Yes ! as has been said you can send SMS to another country.
However.....
For a start the phone type is not relevant (ie. 5110) as long as the phone
supports SMS - most do.
If you are talking about sending a message to phone on the same network as
your self it will definitely work - even if the destination phone is
roaming.
(I think this should even work if the phone is turned off ? not sure).
However it starts to get complicated when you talk about diffrent networks.
e.g. For a long time esat and Eircell did not forward one anothers SMS
messages - that may have changed.
So if the two networks do talk SMS then
It will cost you the same to send to matter where the target phone is
(roaming)
It will cost the receiver nothing - even if roaming (not 100% sure on this -
may vary from network to network).
In general all the GSM networks agree to forward SMS messages for free.
In general the cheapest and most reliable *[1] way is to use the internet. -
If the network you are tring to sent to is listed then it should work.
Try the following
http://sms.advalvas.be/ (both 086 and 087)
http://www.mtn.co.za/sms/ (used to do only 087 now only do 086)
*[1] I have found that in some cases delivery may be delayed when useing the
internet - I think this corresponds to the business hours of the site you
are using eg. i used a place in .be and i find that if i send messages after
4:30 GMT do not arrive till the next day or if it's a friday then they don't
arrive till the Monday.
