It's been proposed that we have a new list on linux.ie - namely,
something for general geeky discussion, not specifically related either
to Linux, or to ILUG social thingies. The idea would then be that
"ilug at linux.ie" would be reserved for specific Linux-related issues,
while the new list holds general "this is interesting" type of things...
talk at linux.ie?

While that sounds reasoable I wonder where this list splitting will end? After
a while it may emerge that talk will have to be split into lists depending on
the types of comments. For instance if there were loads of car comments (like
that Toyota Yaris thread from a while ago) then someone would complain about the
amount of car related junk on talk and someone would propose a list
'car-talk at linux.ie'. Right, so I'm playing Devil's Advocate here but it isn't
beyond the realms of possibility. I have to say I quite like the general
discussions mixed in with Linux related stuff. I mean, all someone has to do is
put an [OFF TOPIC] banner in the subject line. Anyone who liked their list to
be Linux-only could set up some filtering based on that banner. Thats my take
on it anyway.
