I had the same problem. I could get it work if I used loadlin to boot,
but not a straight boot. It has something to do with initialisation of
the drive, I think. Anyway, quick way round it is to make the CD-ROM
bootable. It'll try and fail everytime to boot from CD-ROM and
hopefully, Linux should then be able to recognise it.
