what does ifconfig report?  any errors?  when you run ping, do any lights
on the sending box's card blink?  or on the hub?  or on the receiving
card?  are they on the same network - are netmasks the same?  what does
the arp table show?  if you configure them to have the same address does
one complain at boot time?
