why?  that's a lot of data.

i'd start with something like

strace -p 1 -f -o /some/partition/with/a/big/disk.out

check the strace manpage to see if it follows already forked processes.
if it doesn't, maybe boot into single user, start the strace on a nohup,
and then go multiuser?

all in all it's a lot of data.
