security problems are frequently identified in linux and the userland
daemons and utilities. they're fixed rather rapidly unlike legacy nt
systems and commercial unicies.
i might add that if you want an os committed to security, you might want
to consider www.openbsd.org. also, most security problems depend on
arch dependant buffer overflows so i usually suggest using a non-intel
based distrib since script kiddies tend to used prebuilt stuff for intel.
