Are smbd AND nmbd running?
Can you do nmblookup from the linux box and find it?
Are you in the same workgroup?
Can you telnet from one to the other?
smbclient is a very useful thing to try as well. Check that something hasn't
taken over the master browser (check
nmb.log on the linux box).
As an aside, Windows 2000 messes up samba 2 for some reason. I can't browse
a samba machine, but I can
type in \\quake\install and it works. I can't browse \\quake and see what is
shared. Anyone heard owt?
