[ILUG] Interesting little libC functions & commands...

 Anyone got any interesting little functions or commands that they would
like to share ? I'll start the ball:

 The strfry() function randomizes the contents of string by using
rand(3) to randomly swap characters in the string. The result is an
anagram of string.

 The memfrob() function encrypts the first n bytes of the memory area s by
exclusive- ORing each character with the number 42. The effect can be
reversed by using memfrob() on the encrypted memory area.

 chattr changes the file attributes on a Linux second extended file system;
these can be things like "tell dump to ignore me" and "I'm a synchronous
file, I am".
