Not being a complete amateur, I have taken a lot of what you said into account
on my numerous dealings with Hotmail.

Over a period of 3 weeks I e-mailed Hotmail's abuse address 4 times. I
received an aouto-ack on each of those times.
The daily spam from this address continued. I got annoyed, I e-mailed the
postmaster address, with full headers etc.
I received an acknowledgement. The spam from this account stopped.

I know I am not the only person doing this. I would be surprised if a large
number of people are not.

I have been the postmaster in two companies myself and have had to deal with a
lot of spam. I consider myself to be quite adept at sorting out the
forgeries from the real ones.
