[ILUG] samba quirk

[ILUG] samba quirk

Jon Kelly stuff at iol.ie

Heyas...
I have been experiencing something strange with SAMBA, and I'm hoping
someone can tell me what's going on, it's probably something really simple
that I'm missing.

I have my Windows 98 machine hooked up to an old linux box. When I turn on
the windows machine, I get the old User, password and domain login prompt.
I give it my password, and send it off, only for it to come back to me a
few minutes later telling me that there was no Domain Server found to
validate my password, with the usual "okay" and "cancel" buttons. If I
press Cancel, I log into windows with no network. If I press Okay, after a
couple of seconds, windows starts WITH network access.

What up with that? I wanna get rid of it, cos it makes it reeeeeeeeally
long to start up.

Thanks in advance

- Jon
