Hi all,
Seen www.linux.ie for a while but only just decided to join. I am living in
Redwood City, Califronia at the moment so I'm getting a bit nostalgic so I
thought, what the heck and subscribed, so howya.
I have a "fair" bit of experience with Linux and most recently helped
persuade management here and assisted in the porting of v3.0 of our
enterprise app to Linux (tier two OS). It is unsupported but, hey, its
there. v4.0 is around the corner and I aim to make the Linux port tier 1
along with NT, Solaris and IRIX.
I would like to here about Linux use in Industry (not education) in Ireland
(it doesn't say much on the web site) from anyone on this list, specifically
Irish companies like Iona Technology, IOL, Esat Telecom and such like.
Being from Cork I would like to meet the Cork contingent for a few Jars... I
read what Alan Cox said about kernel hackers in Ireland, and he is probably
right!
I mailed urs at gigaperls.org and I have persuaded him to create a cool irish
flag version of Tux, the Linux mascot. Check out
http://www.gigaperls.org/linux/ to see some others.
Err, that's about it, back to work.
a chara,
Anthony
