Besides the known sendmail "bug" where Sendmail freezes for several
minutes on start-up if it can't find your hostname there's another very
good reason for putting your hostname into /etc/hosts.
Just try to telnet or http or ftp to your machine from elsewhere and
you'll find other machines can't connect! All the win95 machines
couldn't http to mine here, and I spent 20 minutes figuring it out..
So, make sure you put your real IP address into /etc/hosts along with
127.0.0.1!
