[ILUG] Root Problem

[ILUG] Root Problem

Bernard Murphy tbmurphy at idb.ie

Thanks for all the assistance but I am afraid the problem persists.

This is the result :

(1) By typing "linux single" or "linux 1" at the boot prompt I get the
bash# which allows me to change the password as expected.

The screen then reads "passwd : all authentication tokens updated
successfully.
                                         bash #

At the bash # point I shutdown the system and reboot to login - type in the
new password and again the screen flashes and brings me back to the login
screen !!!

(2) By typing linux init=/bin/sh at the boot prompt gets me to a point where
critical errors are shown and I cannot shutdown the system.

Think I will just have to keep trying the other options sent to me and hope
for the best.

Thanks again

Bernard
