[ILUG] Multiple network cards

I am connected here on two seperate networks and I'm trying to talk to
both of them at the same time. I have the correct modules installed and I
have the routing information set up properably but when I try to initilase
eth1, I get

Delaying eth1 initialization.

but it doesn't say why. I've read the multiple card ethernet howto but it
had no information on it. What steps do I have to go through to get onto
both networks?
