[ILUG] Root Problem

[ILUG] Root Problem

If these really is the case and not a typo you may have the problem licked
!!!!
there should be an extra colon in there ...
root :x: 0 :0 : root : /root : /bin/bash

With out that it was reading /bin/bash as the home directory (which on most
nix's will just cause it to go to "/" and then for a shell it was getting
nothing - which is why you were starting up (getting a screen flash) and
then returning to login !

If this is not the problem check that /bin/bash file excists correctly with
the correct permissions (-RWXR-XR-X). Also check that /root is a directory
with correct permissions !!

(but it seems it's just a missing colon)
