I tried to follow a link from Linuxworld this morning to a story about Code
Warrior (http://www.newsalert.com/bin/story?StoryId=Cn3wHWbKbytaWmty). However,
I don't get there because I keep getting error messages along the lines of
You don't have permission to access /adj/bw.newsalert.com/;pac=search;kw=;sz=468
x60;ord=930570348 on this server.
This comes from accessing this URL
http://ad.doubleclick.net/adj/bw.newsalert.com/;pac=search;kw=;sz=468x60;ord=930
570348
This is, I imagine, not unrelated to the fact that I, like all right thinking
people :-) resolve ad.doubleclick.net to my local machine which of course
refuses to serve any of the requested pages (this has the unfortunate side-effect
that I sometimes get a big Forbidden message displayed rather than a small GIF,
thus overwriting some of the content I actually want to read). Have I any way around
this other than telling the truth about ad.pain.in.the.arse.and.waste.of.bandwidth ?
Also any way of getting around the "unfortunate side-effect" mentioned would be nice.
