Anthony Durity burst across the net:
>i have to agree that all this anti ms stuff gets really boring really
>quickly. compiling faqs and stats on WHY LINUX IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN NT is
>just a waste of time. i want to talk about cool stuff like "why php3 saved
>my life" and "i'm working on a gealic version distro".

while i agree, there must be some reasoning behind compiling stats on why
thing one is better then thing two. supposedly microsoft's strength is
in marketing, and they seem to think it a task worth spending money on...

marketing weasels aside, i honestly feel that explaining how tech works
and how to get certain tech to solve a certain problem are both much
more important then stat waving contests. i think most serious linux
developers and admins would agree to that. after all, the first method
given to compare linux platforms is "bogomips."

ps speaking of stats, has anyone applied microsoft's price/performance
   formula to the c't tests?
