Never used red hat but cant you run the setup utility? DId you install the existing
system from CD? And are you just upgrading the kernel. Last time I upgraded
mine I download just the kernel in tgz format unpacked it followed the basic
configure make zimage and stuff in the README and it was fairly simple.
>I was looking for something other than windoze and John Looney did me a
>great favour with a copy of Red Hat 5.2.
>Trouble is I'm a complete novice and still can't configure printer or
>sound card.
>Further problem is that I'm sat here with the latest kernel on CDROM
>which would probably solve my dilemma but I've not a clue how to
>'extract' from CD and then run.
>Would someone out there please give me say 30 minutes of their time
>before my brain melts. Trust me I'm close to John of Gods.
