[ILUG] SNMP server for Linux

[ILUG] SNMP server for Linux

Hi all,
I'm in the throes of setting up a server to be co-hosted by Medianet
and one of the things they want is

A SNMP server with read access must be run on the server so the operations
centre can monitor its bandwidth utilisation.

I must say that I think it sounds a bit hairy - why don't they use their own
equipment to measure what host uses what bandwidth ? - but the SNMP solution
ie easier for them, I suppose. Having looked around I'm inclined towards either
the CMU or UCD packages (UCD being a wayward child of CMU, apparently). Have
any of you used either of these (or something else - I know what SNMP is but
very little about it. I want to implement the simplest package I can to get
the desired functionality. I've got CMIP MIBs hanging around here which are
approaching 1M in size, and I really want to KISS on this server)

Is there anyone from ClubI/Medianet on this list (I know they are Linux users) ?

Kindest regards and happy Monday
