[ILUG] OT job possibility

[ILUG] OT job possibility

Paul Curtayne niche at tinet.ie
Tue Nov 2 16:36:30 GMT 1999

There is a possibility of a job.

Work involved (some/all of the following)
----------------------------------------
Web design/programming
HTML
Javascript
CSS
Perl/CGI

Some hardware repairs, maintenance, basic networking.

The ideal would be someone who has some sort of technical knowledge,
is not afraid to quit FrontPage, and fire up a text editor, can FTP
from the command line, can open a PC, install a card, and not shit
themselves, has some knowledge of Flash etc, is not colour-blind,
knows when to use a GIF and not a JPG, and doesn't put 180KB GIFs on
the home page of every site, doesn't use JAVA aplets for mouse-overs,
and can make a page that someone would actually want to look at
without puking, etc etc.....

I've had several people contact me (damned Golden Pages ad!) looking
for work, and all seem to be very FrontPage/Fireworks/WYSIWYG
oriented. While this is undoubtedly of use, it's not how I work.

Alternatively, there might be 2 jobs, one designer, one web
programmer.

I'm presumably asking the impossible, but it's worth a try. Can you
pass this on to anyone who may have a clue?

You must be flexible and quick to learn above all else.
