I suspected the same thing. Certainly in Windows it would happen but in
Linux in my experience you can delete a directory with a program running
in it. The program keeps running in memory but screws up once it tries
to access the missing directory. My other telnet sessions with the zsh
session running in the missing directory should have just reported "path
not found" when I did "ls" or something very similar. That's what
confused me.
