i dont know why but when i check what processes are running their are
multiple in.identd processes:
nobody 4273 0.0 2.0 1368 636 ? S 22:34 0:00 in.identd
-e -o
root 4276 0.0 2.0 1368 636 ? S 22:34 0:00 in.identd
-e -o
root 4277 0.0 2.0 1368 636 ? S 22:34 0:00 in.identd
-e -o
root 4278 0.0 2.0 1368 636 ? S 22:34 0:00 in.identd
-e -o
root 4279 0.0 2.0 1368 636 ? S 22:34 0:00 in.identd
-e -o
root 4280 0.0 2.0 1368 636 ? S 22:34 0:00 in.identd
-e -o
root 4281 0.0 2.0 1368 636 ? S 22:34 0:00 in.identd
-e -o
root 4282 0.0 2.0 1368 636 ? S 22:34 0:00 in.identd
-e -o
root 4283 0.0 2.0 1368 636 ? S 22:34 0:00 in.identd
-e -o
root 4284 0.0 2.0 1368 636 ? S 22:34 0:00 in.identd
-e -o
root 4285 0.0 2.0 1368 636 ? S 22:34 0:00 in.identd
-e -o

here's what i guess is the offending line of inetd.conf:
auth stream tcp wait root /usr/sbin/tcpd in.identd -e -o

is their anything wrong with that? and why is user nobody the owner of one
of identd's processes?

cheers in advance :)
