sniffit like tcpdump uses an library called pcap as an interface for
capturing packets. i've looked quickly using pcap and i deceided against
it, although... maybe i should have another look :-)

basically write a tool that will dump the payload of all packets being
sent from, being sent to and being sent accross my NIC, and learn some
socket programming on the way.
