i've seen that before. i don't really have an answer, but the issue was
the motherboard and the ide controller. as linuxboots, note what it
sees for an ide controller and motherboard/chipset. then search for
those terms + linux on google.
i'm guessing having linux boot with certain arguments will solve the
problem.
