That wasn't explicitly aimed at a minority group in
ilug, which your comment pretty much was.
I know it was meant as a joke, and personally, I didn't
take offence at it, but the fact remains that while you
can say whatever you want in your private emails, this
is a public list, and however much you may not want to
do it, you should watch what you say.
I wouldn't have bothered writing this but I don't think
it's fair to suggest that anyone is trying to 'score
brownie points' out of this.
Also, your comment

Kind of pissed me off. It wouldn't exactly hurt you to
apologise in case you did offend anyone. This kind of
ignorance is extremely unhelpful in a situation like
this...
