As you may/may not know already Trinity Netsoc have invited open-source
guru, Eric S. Raymond to deliver a talk entitled 'Freedom, Power and
Software' and to sign copies of his new book 'The Cathedral & the Bazaar'.
The talk will be happening on the 25th November in the Walton Theater
(Arts Bulding) at 19:00. Entry is 1 quid for non-member/students and 3
quid for non-member/corporates. A drinks reception will follow in Doyles
pub.
I know I'm goin'. Hope to see some of you there. Kate, could you get me a copy
of the latest RedHat CD's? I've been getting quite some interest here at work
for Linux since StarOffice became free for commercial and Lotus has started to
port Notes to Linux. Now if I can get RedHat installed one just one desktop PC
here, I don't think it will be long before it starts to migrate throughout the
factory! Personally I am still staying with Debian, but I think RedHat would be
easier, plus the StarOffice CD I've got is RPM format anyway.
Who else is planning on going?
Cheers,
John Gay
