[ILUG] using kernel functions...

I am trying to use some basic kernel functions, i.e. request_region etc.
form <kernel/ioports.h>, but when I try compiling a basic program which
uses these functions it seems that the functions are not being linked in
properly.
When I use kernel functions, do I have to specificly provide a
library name to gcc / the linker, or should the relevant libraries not
be in the standard search path anyway???
BTW I made sure to use the __KERNEL__ option on the command line.

I would be greatful for any suggestions ???

Robert
