[ILUG] ref : DNS & Internic

[ILUG] ref : DNS & Internic

Evening,

I am currently working on a project with a small ISP
in dublin.

Their Primary & Secondry Nameservers are hosted by
Esat.

They would like to host their own.

What do I need to register with Internic.

Heres the config......

       ns.company.com
       ns1.company.com
       ftp.company.com
       mail.company.com
       mail01.company.com

They would like to host the above + add hosts as
needed at their leisure.

Will they need to register a host with internic
every-time they add a new one ???

I know with new domains they will have to register the
domain name with internic,, but surely not every host
record.

My assumtion is that once the name servers are
registered internic pass all traffic for
xxx.company.com to ns.company.com.

I am aware that new zones will need to be added to the
internic database.

Sorry bout my intelligence on this one. I have wrote
many dns servers for internal use, it's once it goes
public on the internet I get slightly confused.

Thanks in advance...

Mark
