Actually, there are multiple registrars now.  I believe NSI are still in
charge of the hosts repository, but .com, .org and .net are handled by
many competing organisations.  I recommend Net Wizards (www.netwiz.net)
for new registrations in these domains; they've been extremely efficient
with everything so far.
