I'm sure I recall reading somewhere that amongst the domain names not allowed
for registration are those which are the same as another TLD. Am I correct ?
Does this rule exist, or did it exist and has it been revoked ? I can't find
the domain naming rules on Internic anymore.
I ask because I happened to notice an ad. from an e-commerce company the other
who use the domain ie.com and I immediately thought of the above mentioned rule
which I may or may not have dreamed up :-) I also thought there was a rule that
domain names (the part before the dot) had to be at least three characters long
which ie.com also violates (but so does at least ty.com, so that presumably has
gone by the board, unless I dreamt it too :-) )
