Make sure that the line 'alias parport_lowlevel parport_pc' is in
/etc/conf.modules.
The 2.2 kernel went way modular with the parallel port. Printing now
requires the lp and parport modules as well as a low-level driver for
your parallel port hardware. For regular PC parallel ports that's the
parport_pc module.
