What they actually do is stick a prefix dialer in your home.  Esat
users can go over the eircom network by using this prefix.  The prefix 
dialer makes it transparent for most users.  A friend of mine just
removed the unit and adds the 'magic prefix' to his isp number in his
dialup scripts.
