[ILUG] Service packs for linux?

[ILUG] Service packs for linux?

Jeremy Smyth JSmyth at Saleslan.com

*Yawn* Morning all,
Just fresh from reading the slashdotted linux today article on ZDNet's
NT/Linux shootout...

Has anyone spoken about getting an equivalent service-pack type thing for
Linuxen?
What would be involved in knocking the "21 patches" into one?? Even
something using autoconf that would check for whatever needed patching would
be a way to begin.
Certainly some of the known bugs are very prevalent: RedHat's crond being a
case in point.

Thoughts?
