thanks a lot guys, it's seriously appreciated. If only I knew a little
more about how dynamic linking worked... I must have missed something
along the line.

Can I borrow your machine? ;-)

But seriously, does someone have a copy of RH6/6.1 that I could borrow in
the region of Dublin city centre? I lent my copy to someone who cracked
it... :(

I guess it's worth a try... I seem to recall getting rid of all the
optimisation and warning stuff at one stage just to try something new, and
it didn't make much of a difference.

That's not something I've tried (read knew about :)...will do so later.

I kinda liked gcc...ah well, move with the times, I guess.
