OK, I've checked the BIOS and its not possible to boot from
the CD or to disable
          the mouse :-(
          Options are running out.... ahhhhh....

I have the same problem with RH 6.0 on a compaq laptop,
where it freezes on
mouse detection, even though it works perfectly on RH 5.2
.... hmmmm

Anyhow, on the install it happens consistantly and before
the chance to
create a boot (or rescue) disk of any sort ....

IIRC it also completely locks out the keyboard ....

You might want to try using an external mouse for the
install (serial
*should* work - and disable the internal one in the
BIOS)....
Booting from CD is also a good idea (even only if it's
faster and more
          reliable !) ...
