I had exactly the same problems as you, it is to
do with the LED initiallisation code in xfree. Basically
method 2 as outlined on this page, worked for me.
If you are still having problems with it, after looking
at this, I can give you step by step guides to getting
it working. (I just spent 2 days doing this and actually
had my soldering iron out to implement a workaround which
I found on the net, when I finally got it to work).
