I've got a Palm III, 2MB. I was very tight on memory after
installing the basic stuff, some Discworld Monthlies etc.
Ten I got TRG's FlashPro. Best few dollars I've ever spent.
Suddenly I got a full overview of what I actually had on my
system, and earned 826Kb. I'm over 1MB free memory now, and
it's more than enough for a system like this. You're not
supposed to play MP3s on it all day...and the batteries are
going to last a long time, except when all power in the
neighbourhood dies just as your Infocom addiction kicks in :)
Price? A new Palm III costs 209 punts. Not sure about Palm V.
I know there are problems with it, like the lid activating the
unit when you close it...newer version of the OS, but I've
successfully connected to some Ericsson mobile phone through
the IR thingy. It works. You'll need some e-mail clients or
other tools, though. Maybe some crazy person will port Pine?
(The alternatives aren't really that good)
