Well, Owen Kelly, Ronan Kirby (who happened to be in the Kingsley hotel
for some reason at the time..) and myself attended the IIA meeting last
night. Interesting stuff, and I'm impressed by how clued in the business
people at the presentation were. Of course, these people are actually
interested in "e-commerce" so that sets them apart from the business man
on the street.
At the end there was a Q & A session where I asked about the weak
security of 40 bit encryption and were the speakers worried about the
weaknesses in SSL. The BOI representative answered fairly well, but got
a roasting from others on more business related issues :P
They also wouldn't tell me what OS they run their secure server on, but
they have plans to develop a Linux version for their next release.
I spoke to Johnathon Crowley of Cyrona Software afterwards and he was
very pleased with Linux, saying that they develop on Linux before
porting to other OSes. Their website is at www.cyrona.com
Hopefully there are a few more people on the Cork list now, and at least
there's a few more business people who now know about LAID.
Donncha.
