hi
i just installed 6.1 and im trying to change the kernel from 2.2.12-20 to
2.2.13,i have the main kernel rpm installed and modutils but uninstalled
kernel-headers,ive tried keeping kernel,and kernel-headers installed but
deleting all their files (same problem happened with 6.0 and that fixed
it) but when i did that 'make bzlilo' on 2.2.13 complained that their was
no /boot/initrd-2.2.12-20.img even when all the kernel rpm's wer
uninstalled!,ive tried various combinations of installed packages while
trying to compile the 2.2.13 kernel i have as bz2,but all i get are
similar errors.
i had to install the kernel rpm,but i dont have kernel-headers installed
at the moment,i am able to compile 2.2.13 but when i reboot it keeps going
back to 2.2.12-20.
heres my /boot/:
[root at Majestic12 /boot]# ls
System.map chain.b module-info-2.2.12-20
System.map-2.2.12-20 initrd-2.2.12-20.img os2_d.b
boot.0300 kernel.h vmlinux-2.2.12-20
boot.0340 map vmlinuz
boot.b module-info vmlinuz-2.2.12-20
System.map,module-info,and vmlinuz are all symlinks.
how in the name of god do i get rid of these dependencies and install a
tar.bz2 kernel??
thanks
