My cynicism about Genesis won't be news to regulars here. Whatever about the
possibity of getting high bit rates over ordinary telephone lines with a
short local loop and a following wind, the fact remains that ANY DSL type
tecnology i.e. anything not using voice band modems requires the provision
of termination equipment at the telecom provider's end of the line
(telephone exchange, RSU etc.)
As the monopoly provider of POTS lines in this country hasn't yet managed to
launch their ADSL service after two years testing (though their recent
signing of a contract for provision of equipment gives grounds for hope) I
find it unlikely in the extreme that Genesis are somehow going to manage to
have the necessary equipment installed in telephone exchanges before
November - or were they going to fund it from all the 20 pound deposits they
received ?
