[ILUG] Frank Cronin to speak in UCD.

UCD Netsoc are pleased to announce that Mr. Frank Cronin, CEO of the Irish
Internet Association, will be delivering a talk on the 19th of April at 7pm.
The talk, entitled: 

	"The impediments and resolutions to the future of growth online"

will take place in the new UCD computer science building. 

Also talking will be  Mr. Dave Wilson and Mr. Mike Norris of HEAnet. They will be giving 
an outline of what HEAnet does and the opportunities that they provide.

In his talk Mr. Cronin will discuss, among other things, the problems with registering 
.ie domains, the bandwidth capacity in Ireland and the emerging mobile phone technology, 
WAP to name a few. 

Mr. Frank Cronin is currently the CEO of the Irish Internet Association. He was a 
founding member of the IIA and currently sits on the board heading up the committee on
Marketing, Content and Communities, and legal issues. He also writes a monthly column for
Communications Today magazine, and has spoken at several seminars on specialist topics 
relating to Web Marketing and Online Communities. He was also involved in the proposals made 
to the IEDR, by the IIA, about possible changes that could be made to the domain registering 
process in Ireland.

Dave Wilson is Senior Network Engineer with HEAnet and is responsible for the maintenance
and operation of the HEAnet backbone, its routers, and the news, web and email servers at 
the Network Operations Centre. He also maintains the security contacts list for clients.

Mike Norris is Senior Technical Officer with HEAnet. 

After the talks there will be a large drinks reception, in UCD, for all who attend.
