There's at least one linux-vaio site out there, and a faq as well I think. Some of the earlier models needed a bit of tweaking to get it running, but all recent models are fine.
The only think that matches it for sexiness and power is the Apple Powerbook, but yellowdog linux (the PPC linux incarnation) isn't mainstream enough yet.
