Well, recently, whois.internic.net started producing output
like:
[kenn at atlas kenn]$ whois bluetreesystems.com
[rs.internic.net]
...
Domain Name: BLUETREESYSTEMS.COM
Registrar: CORE INTERNET COUNCIL OF REGISTRARS
Whois Server: whois.corenic.net
Referral URL: www.corenic.net
...
Then you're supposed to do:
[kenn at atlas kenn]$ whois bluetreesystems.com at whois.corenic.net
[whois.corenic.net]
Blue Tree Hostmaster (template COCO-184020)
Blue Tree Systems Ltd
Mervue Business Park
Galway, Co. Galway . IE
...
I'm pretty sure there's a command line whois that will chase
this referral automatically. I'll find it yet...
Later,
Kenn
