I would second that - Python is used as the basis of its author's "Computer
Programming for Everybody" initiative - he has always attempted to make
his language more readable for 'non-programmers' :)
This might be a good URL to start at for resources for the summer:

And then it's very easy to expand classes 'n modules created in the early
programming classes to the web via Zope (don't get me started!) :)
