Just verified one fact with HP moments ago. The 970Cxi and 970C ARE functionally the same, so the Cxi will run under Linux as I described in my earlier reply. I still don't know if it's a Winprinter.
Now here's HP's reply to an inquiry I made regarding PCL3+ and the 970 series, and I quote HP verbatim:
"You are asking for detailed information on the PCL commands to access 1400 x 1200 resolution on photo quality paper & duplex printing. HP will NOT release that information. (emphasis mine)
The PCL documentation was only recently updated to include the 970 series, and the information that is allowed to go out is published in the PDF's you have already reviewed. Thank You."
Note the use of passive tense, ie. "the information that is allowed to go out..."
