If you are using apsfilter, you can tweak the colours by adding a
line to /etc/apsfilterrc as
PRELOADS="gamma.ps"
and hacking the file (on my SuSE system)
/var/lib/apsfilter/preloads/gamms.ps
to alter the colour "strength"
Works for my Canons; apsfilterrc is well commented so you may also
find somewhere to raise your resolution and duplexing.
