Very well -- Perforce and CVS afaik both have a single central server, but
it doesn't need to be as beefy as the Clearcase VOB server does:
Clearcase' VOB server is continually serving files, even when users aren't
checking in or out code or branching or merging or doing similar
version-control operations.
P4 and CVS by contrast check out the files to your local disk, allowing
them to be idle when you're not doing those version-control ops.
