[ILUG] Happy Birthday SourceForge...

[ILUG] Happy Birthday SourceForge...

It's a year old, and they sent this on to me today...

----- Forwarded message from noreply at sourceforge.net -----

SourceForge is now a year old, and keeps growing. We're now
hosting over 12,000 projects and over 90,000 developers. As more and
more people and projects use the site, things have gotten crowded from
time to time, especially download speeds.

In order to address these issues, we've tried to overkill the problem
as best as we could. This means incredible amounts of hardware and
bandwidth. We secured dozens of fully-loaded VA Linux boxes and have
moved SourceForge to a co-location facility on the west coast (with a
100 mbit pipe).

Additionally, we're setting up two additional FTP servers (for a total
of 3) in three different geographical locations. We are also tripling
our Sysadmin Staff, growing our support staff and working on projects
to remove the chron delay and improve the compilefarm.

----- End forwarded message -----

Wow. About time they got more bandwidth. It's been really slow lately...

Kate
